Bamboo

- -

Bamboo is the world’s fastest producer of biomass and can be used for anything between production of paper or clothing, used as a building material such as flooring, bench tops, fences and screens. Funny fact, Bamboo is in fact a type of grass – a very fast growing and giant grass! For the smaller bamboos to reach its full mature size it only takes 3 or 4 years while for larger bamboos, it may take 5 to 6 years.

Advantages:

Bamboo is a pioneering plant in that it can be grown in full sun and tolerates high winds. This enables its use as a starting point in restoring cleared land which may have been damaged by overgrazing or poor farming.

– Bamboo disposable plates are biodegradable and do not harm the environment. Bamboo grows rapidly and requires minimal water and resources to thrive, making it an eco-friendly choice for disposable tableware.

– Due to its durability, bamboo is microwave-, oven-, and refrigerator-safe, making them an ideal addition to any food service business.

– Bamboo is lightweight and easy to transport compared to other types of tableware.

Impacts for the environment:

Being easy composting it’s already a great plus for the environment, and regarding the high quality while being used makes it an easy option for leaving the plastic consumption. Reducing then the amount of plastic usage.

Manufacturing process:

Bamboo disposable products are made from the sheath of the bamboo plant, which is the outer layer of the stem that falls off when the plant reaches maturity.

How it is the process? Once the sheath is collected, it is cleaned and boiled. The sheath is next laminated into the necessary thickness for the desired product.

Final stage: The sheath is then pressed and bonded into the required shape
